Hello, I am new to the game, and I had a question about the basic starting attacks.
I noticed that some pets' quick and focused attacks do physical damage while those of others do magical, even if they are the same type of Sylesti. I wondered why this is, what determines the type of damage the basic attacks do, and whether this has any bearing on which proficiencies I should choose.
Thanks, and I apologize if there is already a topic on this. I couldn't seem to find one!

@Shadowsinash, welcome to Sylestia! c:
Whether your pet deals physical or magical damage depends on which stat for the attack is higher. You can find it on each pet's individual page.
Say for example...a pet has these stats:
Physical Damage: 28
Magical Damage: 24
In this case, they'll deal physical damage.
There's equipment that specifically raises one or the other or both; adding points to Strength or Intelligence also boosts the number for each.
Keep in mind that your pet can only deal either Physical OR Magical damage. So it would be in your best interest to focus all points into one or the other, not both at the same time. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for the reply, Flute! So my understanding is that if your pet starts out with higher strength, it will deal physical damage and if it begins with higher intelligence, it will deal magic damage? If the pet begins with higher intelligence, and then I boost the strength and focus on that, will the damage change to physical, or will it stay magic damage and just be gimpy?

You can boost a pets physical (magical) damage by putting all their points into strength (intelligence) but that's not the only way!
Your equipment, specifically relics (the first equipment slot) have a huge effect on your magical and physical dmg. You'll see that it's the only type of equipment that gives you any physical or magical dmg boost, and it gives you a lot. You can have a pet with pretty darn high strength and it'll still be using magic damage if that's what the relic boosts.
So just be sure to match up your relic with the attack type you want, or else you end up wondering why your pets aren't doing any dmg!
