sooooo i have been around and killed the new named a few times, and got no avi items from them. so i figured it might just be bad RNG. and then when they all respawned, the old named gave me a couple items, but the new ones still did not. is this just really sucky RNG, or...?

I've done two rounds of bosses so far, so like probably 7-8 new boss battles, and no new items. I would consider it bad RNG except that I've regularly asked in chat if anyone else has gotten new items and its *so far* always been a resounding "No".

They were indeed not dropping any avatar items. The line of code that actually adds the items was accidentally removed it seems when I was going through setting it all up and then copy/pasted to all of the new named.
It should be fixed now. My apologies!

My first run I got 3/3 old drops and 0/6 new drops :') So it's good to know they should be fixed~
Edit: Although... I just did another run with 3/3 old (I think? Definitely 2/3 - I thought I got one from the first one too, but maybe it stacked somewhere) and 0/6 new... was that just bad RNG??
