Ok. I know how to. Here are the steps
1 Buy an essence (Example: Regular Zolnixi Essence)
2 Go to the generator
3 Click on where it says "No Essence Loaded: Click Here To Load Your Essence"
4 Select your essence
5 Design your pet
6 Click "Generate Pet"

They are available in the diamond shop. BUT you can also check the Trade Broker for users selling them for gold. Occasionally you can also get them from nurturing, fighting, or opening mission satchels, but those are all rare and not very reliable.
Edit: also, you can save up gold to buy diamonds off the Currency Exchange, but that can be pretty difficult until you've stabilized yourself on the site.
