Willow and Flint made their way to their den, with them a dead deer. They had found it, and decided that it would last them for at least a couple of days. "Mommy, why can't I play for just a little more?" Flint asked. "Because it's dangerous. There are so many other kinds of wolves that hate us, and they wouldn't mind killing a pup like you."

Scar yelled at his pack. "Stop fighting! Stop it!" They didn't listen, and so he howled. The howl was a broken sound, one that differed from the rest. They all stopped and turned to look at him. "You can all try to rip each other's throats out after we find food."
