The udated frosted glass gene on the luporas, although nice, I think, and other players agree, should be added as a new trait. The new trait gets busy rather quickly and easily and shares almost nothing with the old trait. I myself was a fan of the old FG and would love for it to be made its own trait alongside new FG. Another thing is the community was never told of this change and no one got to weigh in input.

Seconded. The new version is definitely pretty! And it is more similar to the pre-revamp version. But... I have certain lups who were regenned with the "old new" version in mind, and now they just don't look the same. :\
Another potential solution could be offering re-regens for lups that were regenned with it. But I know that could be a lot of work too.

Agreed. Agreed, agreed, agreed.
I don't have a "before" for the adult, only a "before" for the hatchling. This update has ruined my favorite lupora project.
No longer do I have a subtle, fiery glow on the mane. I have bright yellow feathers.
I do not WANT bright yellow feathers.
I have never been so furious.
I loved this project. It was literally my favorite design of all time BECAUSE Frosted Glass made the mane perfect. Fiery embers and a faint highlight that actually made it look like the runes were glowing. And now it's ruined.
No warning.
No option to FIX this horrible stain on what was once a perfect design.
Just a sudden, jarring "hey your project is now trash!"
... not happy.

The Frosted Glass trait was always intended to be that way. It was a bug and it wasn't showing up properly.
The Frosted Glass trait was always intended to be that way. It was a bug and it wasn't showing up properly.
We were discussing this with Krin last night in gen chat, and he said the same thing.
But unfortunately, people assumed that it wasn't bugged, and designed projects/regens/etc. around what we thought was the new complete trait... never realizing that it would end up using AC1 and look completely different than we'd planned.
There are only a few lups I'm super dissatisfied with, and I think I could fix them with a different color in AC1. My other lups look different, but not bad; I can live with it. Some of them are even really pretty. But I know Xav et al. were extremely upset about the sudden update without warning.

Spanning from Som's post of me being upset... Yup. Definitely upset here.
21.
21 of my lupe projects are now afflicted by this change. No hyperbole here - I'll even list them to back my point.
Galactic no longer has a sparkly nebula sort of mane. It has weird orange streaks.
Radioactive is now a jumbled mess because the mane no longer balances the focus.
Blazehowl was trashed and there is no solution. Other traits won't work. Changing the AC1 won't work. My favorite design is ruined.
Nighthowl is a mess and like Radioactive, it needed the subtle mane to serve as a balance.
Starlight has lost its stars.
Wildbloom's mane has been assaulted with green.
Lunar Priestess has lost her simple elegance.
Frost Dragon's mane is no longer frosty.
Warhound's mane is now a crazy distraction that takes away from its creepy undead vibe...
Emperor's Draggo just looks... weird. The near-matching AC1/C3 basically makes the feathers erase parts of the red highlight, which is what I chose the trait for to begin with.
Shepherd no longer has a "natural" feel to the genes...
Pumpkin Patch just looks... weird.
Solar Flare's orange and yellow mane has been assaulted with blue.
Pharaoh's mane looks... unwashed.
Sunforged no longer has a lightly highlighted, sparkly mane as if it's reflecting sunlight - instead it has weird streaks...
Celestial (before and after of the finished project shown on the top post; the generator was kind enough to save the cache of what it was intended to be) goes from a subtle, sparkly, celestial mane, to having weird purple streaks that ruin any "celestial" aspects about it.
Blitzhowl is... decent. But I still miss the cloudy feel the mane had before...
Jade Wolf is... too streaky...
Fae Guardian... I might can live with. It actually works with the uneven lines of Hyena but for the record, the misty, sparkly feel was much better since it relayed the "fae" aspect.
Ice Wolf is fine; the change is too subtle to be seen.
Vinriel survived. Yay.
16/21 have ruined the intention of my designs. 3/21 are... decent, but not ideal. 2/21 are fine.
So yes. I stand by my reasons for being upset. I designed these projects based on what Frosted Glass WAS - and I want to emphasize that these are PROJECTS, not just random pets. Vinriel is the only "unique" pet among them, designed based on one of my DnD characters and used in party to be a level 10 battler; the rest have MATES, some of them even have multiple generations worth of breeding for a result I have yet to achieve. Months of effort put into them, and now its all for naught.
I had no way of knowing that it was a bugged and incomplete trait - none of us did. This was sudden and jarring. The trait went from being the most subtle G2 option to being the most wild. I stand by my suggestion to Krin of turning what Frosted Glass was as a new trait (Ember Glow, Stardust, Soft Highlights, there are plenty of names it could go by) and allowing current pets with Frosted Glass be allowed to choose between them.
Frosted Glass gets fixed, and so do the pets and projects that were ruined by the fix.
