Okay this is my first day playing Sylestia, and I do not understand how I should set up the prices for my pet in the 'manage pet' tab (breeding price, sale price, Breed to user ID, and Sell to user ID). What are the purpose of these prices? What if I do not want to sell my pet? Is there an option to disable the buying of your pet?
Also if anyone has any recommendations or tips, I would greatly appreciate it.

First, Welcome to Sylestia.

If you do not wish to sell your pets then all you have to do is leave all the boxes with a 0

If you ever wish to breed your pets you would put a price in the first box (and if you want to breed with a specific player you would put their user ID *which you can find on their profile page under their name, for instance yours is 11892*).
If you wish to sell a pet you would do the same in the sale box. (note we cannot give away pets for free, so any free pet comes with a 1g charge. that's as free as we ccan get)

You said that leaving the prices at zero will not allow any player to purchase my pet, but in the 'manage pet' tab it has a warning saying "Leaving a value at 0 will allow any User to purchase this pet". Should I just ignore it and leave my selling price as 0?

Yes, that only means the player Id area, if you leave that at 0 and put a pet up for breed or sale then anyone could buy or breed with said pet.
