I've been wanting to start my first project for a while, but if I want to do a max stat project, how do I do it without messing up..?

I have not tried stat breeding myself, but I heard this guide is very helpful:

a thing that this guide don't brign up is the fact that, if you are aiming for a visual goal you may nead to start the project by getting this aspect done before you start the stats part to save up on philters and lower the chances to end up with escaped traits. ^-^

From my experience with max stat breeding:
The number one thing is to decide exactly what you are aiming for first. By this, I mean species, traits, color/themed or not. It is an expensive and time consuming process to max stat, so you want a final pet that you actually really like.
There are a lot of max stat available for sale, so while you probably can sell some babies, you may not make back what you put into it. Still, it is good to keep in mind what might sell well. 6vis are typically more popular. You can always breed a baby from your 6vis max stats and then use a nullifier if you prefer less vis traits. I wish I had done this with my kelps.
Non fabled species will be more expensive to max stat due to them starting off at lower base stats, but they have a shorter breeding cool down time.
Mana is something some people dont worry about, but personally I prefer to go for 120 or 150 if possible (200 is just not feasible for me since I dont have access to those pets). That means I dont even think about non fabled themes anymore. You will have to decide for yourself what you want to aim for. It can be a royal pain getting mana raised since you can currently only do it through breeding and rng sucks.
Hope that helps.

Alright. Thing is I don't have any 6V max stats I can breed. The ones I bought are infertile so i'd have to start from scratch.
Thanks for the info tho!
And question, the project I wanna start has one restricted trait, Skullmoth's Tail. How do things work out with restricteds since we can't use generators for them?

I guess I wasnt clear, all of my comments were for a max stat project from scratch. Basically you want to do a regular breeding project to get two sets of breeding pairs and then start max stating them. The important thing is to get them how you want to look first (other than dyes, always wait until the very end for those). Dont waste philters until you get all the vis traits and mana you want.
Cheapest way to get restricted traits into your project is to breed with pets that have them. The only time this can be tricky is with themed pets. In that case you may need philters to add specific restricted traits if there arent any up for public breeding, which can get pricey. And nullifiers will be your friend to get rid of those pesky taggalong traits.

What trait from the skullmoth themme would you nead? If you are only planning on using this restricted trait set it could be alot easyer stat wise to use actual pure breed and dye the final pair, or you could try to add superstats to the mix if you want since you will nead to dye eather way. ^-^
