This lil guy right here. The little "Response Loaded in:" message at the bottom of our battle/map screen has captured my attention (and sometimes my frustration) for a while! I've commented a bit about it from time to time in chat, but never understood precisely what it means. Does this refer to one's internet dying? Sylestia server lag? Perhaps something else? I've noticed a higher frequency of high numbers ever since I moved, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I'd love to hear more about it if anyone knows!

I don't know much about it either, but it seems to measure the time between you inputting something and the site responding. Like, every time I try to move one square, the number changes but is usually very low (I got 0.012, 0.014, and 0.011 just now). When there's lag, it takes longer - like your 6 seconds in the screenshot.
There might be more to it, but that's what I've seen.

It measures the speed at which the site was able to compile the response to whatever action you submitted. It does not account for network latency, however (outside of within our own network). It is strictly server compile time.
Sometimes you can receive very long responses, like the one you took a screenshot of, during our hourly ticks and various server updates. My guess would be that you experienced that really long delay right at 12:00 or 12:01, when a big batch of server-side scripts run that clog up the database for 15 seconds or so.

Oooh, I see! That's very interesting. I knew there'd be some goodies to learn about that~ Thank you both for your responses, my burning curiosity is resolved now. <3
