When I tried to breed my pets, they always have a single egg. But when I nurture sylesti, I see that some players have like a dozen of eggs/hatchlings from the same litter. Which of course makes breeding that much more interesting. I tried to search the forums about it, but I didn't find anything.

Does it depend on the age? Generation? Level? How do I make my pets lay more than one egg?

Thanks :)

One egg per breeding

You can breed that pair again in a few days.

Players have multiple because they have breeding projects where every single pair has the same colors and will give similar offspring.

(Want more clarification?)

parents with same colours and traits? oh wow! that's incredible!

I thought I was missing something and that it's possible to have more than one - that would increase the chance of getting an offspring with the desired trait...

As was stated above, you are limited to one egg every time a female is bred.

To give an example, here is the lineage of a breeding project of mine. In this case, Raloleth is purebred (all parents are from the same theme), so of course the colors are the same; and it's a restricted theme, too, so there's only one set of traits. Raloleth is 5th generation and happened to be the first to hit 5v.

It's also possible to do this with non-themed projects with colors and traits of your choice, as well as non-restricted themes with a variety of traits in the mix. Just depends on what you're going for.

When you see multiple eggs/hatchlings that look alike all in a row, most likely those are project pets bred from a lot of different adult pets in the project. For example, on the first page of my hatchery, you can see more of my elf lups. They all have different mothers (though some have the same fathers, since males don't have a cooldown). They were all bred at the same time and all belong to the same project. But they were all individual eggs.

Your pets are gorgeous, and it's obvious it took a lot of work and patience. Wow.

I'm not sure I have what it takes (and I mean patience and dedication) but genetics was always my favourite part of biology in school, so I think I'll try to play with few pets, see where it can take me.

Thanks for clarification, this was huge help. :)

Xav made a comprehensive guide to breeding, if you want to read up on how stuff works for this site specifically. It's long, but very thorough. Might be worth taking a look if you want to get into project breeding.
