It's my understanding that once an eggling hits the "ready to hatch" stage if you don't help it or apply a filter it will hatch on it's own. How long does it stay at "ready to hatch"? If it flips to that stage in the middle of the night or something it would be easy to miss that window when you can improve its stats.

egglings hatch automatically after a full 24 hours have passed from the time they hit 72 maturity hours, meaning you have a full day to get to them, rather than it being tied to site-time in any way.
