Hey everyone.

I have been gifted a max stat team recently and I don't want to waste the opportunity by messing up the team. I've already unlocked the Lost Grove, and so far my team hasn't been perfect, but it's been balanced. I've had a wind type attacker, dark defender/survivalist, and a light type healer. So far its been enough to have a team like this with little real strategy, but I'd greatly appreciate some help building the team properly, like choosing elements and where to allocate skill points to make them most effective.

I had some help last night, but it was very late in Aus and had been a hectic day so I didn't get to really implement the advice I was given.

This is the team;

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :-)

So your previous team is actually a rather solid lineup. A tank/dps/healer team is the most common and versatile team you'll see players use on this site. There are other options but personally I think those are more for specific bosses or play modes. Not for general play. Tanks should be either shadow or earth. DPS should be either fire or wind. Healer should be either light or water. Though light is by far the more popular healing type.

Thank you for the advice Sakina,

Based on that I should keep the one attuned to light and reattune the fire pet to Wind (iirc wind targets single enemies for damage while fire targets multiple enemies, which doesn't match my play style, I prefer taking out the biggest, baddest guy in the room straight away before going after the weaker enemies). ;-)

My only decision to make now is whether my tank should be dark or earth.

And how best to allocate points to the team.

water is also a viable tank (why anyone would want to try to use a water pet as any kind of dedicated healer is beyond me, but maybe that's just me) (the tank on our second team is water and he does his job very well)

Air, go for 3str/2dex, storm caller equips
Light, 3int/2dex, usually they get pyromancer equips (or pyro/lightbringer combo if you want more evasion on the pet in case it's needed)

I think it's a good idea to at least put some effort into training up at least one fire pet's attack ranks at some point, since against some of the cave bosses you really want one (main example, having Combustion is very handy when Kowlla starts to summon her wisps so you can get some immediate significant damage on them)

Tank is the main point where it comes down to personal preference, though. We use Earth in our primary team and water in our secondary, personally.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that you can change an element a pet is attuned to at anytime. You will have to rank up your new element abilities, but whatever ranks you do gain with each element stays with each when you switch back and forth. So you could get one pet maxed out in all the elements if you wanted to.

As mentioned above, light is really the only healer. Water is either support (which I would think would make for a very slow going group) or a tank. I love my water tank, but others do not care for it. Earth seems to be the most popular, but I found I was having to constantly throw potions at it, which I hate. Maybe with a maxed out light healer it would be better.
