I have a noob question, how do I know if my pets are themed or not.

You scroll down to the bottom of the screen. Right above it's traits, if it is themed it will have a star and then say what type of theme it is. Example: Themed Non-themed

Adding on to what Beau said, note that there are also difference in themes

"original" theme:

purebred theme (bred form two of the same theme):

If you look at them, you'll see the original has a gold star, purple lettering that is purple, and is tamed.
The purebred has blue star and lettering of the theme name and the lineage is all breeching orca qits.
