I was looking at the Seasonal festival and noticed that it said that one of the items was Genetic Bonding... What is it? Is it a mutation or something?

it's a special item you can use while making your flower pets. Using 2 of them on a growing flower in your garden will enable you do chose one trait slot for said pet.

The overview... explains what it is along with the other additives?
"Genetic Bonding: Allows you to guarantee a Visible Trait in a specific eligible slot."
(possibly it would be better worded as "Genetic Bonding: Allows you to guarantee your Visible Trait(s) will be in a specific eligible slot."?)

With no fert on a plant, you cannot use a Bonding on it, as it cannot have any visible traits.

If a pet has a Lesser Fertiliser used on it, giving it 1 visible trait, you can select what trait slot it will be in. The trait can be any non-restricted trait from that slot (so an aurleon with G1 bonded could have zebra finch or or pied or blended spots or archduke or any other g1 trait. It's random)
(Majestics with a lesser fert have no visible traits, but rather two carries from their restricted trait set and as such cannot have Bonding done)

With a greater fert on a plant, you can Bond up to two trait slots, since it lets you have two visible traits (or for Majestics, one trait slot that their restricted trait set has a trait in- eg, if you have an Iridescent Jewel Sylvorpa seed planted, you could not Bond G2 or G3 since those slots do not have traits from the Nereid set in them)

Exceptional fert, you can bond three trait slots (two for majestics)
