I have seen many people in Q&A asking about these areas so I have decided to make a guide for them!

DO NOT POST

Question: Why are some traits blue, some green and some purple? Do the colours matter?
Answer:
Green - Carried. This means the trait has an approximately 50% chance to pass onto offspring, depending on what traits the mate has
Blue - Visible. This means you can see the trait on the pet and depending what other trait it is paired with has around a 75% chance of carrying onto the offspring
Purple - Hidden underneath a visible trait. These you cannot see but have a chance to be passed onto the offspring.

Here is a chart of the percentages of visible and carried traits being passed onto offspring:
(Vis means Visible and Car means Carried)
Vis + Car = 50% Car 50% Vis
Car + Car = 50% Car 25% Vis 25% N/A
Vis + N/A = 100% Car
Car + N/A = 50% Car 50% N/A
Vis + Vis = 100% Vis
N/A + N/A = 100% N/A

Hidden and Carried traits can only be seen with a genetic test kit which you can buy from the diamond shop for 1.5k diamonds, or 1k if on sale. It is my firm belief that this is one of the most useful items in the game and is certainly worth this much.

Here is an example of a pet with hidden, carried and visible traits:
https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=5627658

Gene One: (HK) Panthera
Gene Two: (BB) Tri-Color
Gene Three: (BC) Stormy
Mutation One: (CE) Arcanist Tail
Mutation Two: (NB) Ribbon Adornment
Mutation Three: (NA) Ram Horns

See how the carried traits say NB and NA? This means they have nothing with a hidden trait. Confusing, but necessary knowledge for breeding. Also, see how Gene One, Panthera, says HK? Panthera is HH and the hidden one is Flame Runes, KK. When 2 different traits in the parents meet, the one with a higher letter is shown visible and the recessive trait, or the one with a lower letter, is hidden. When this little boy has children he has around a 50/50% chance of passing on Panthera or Flame Runes if his mate has none of them.

I downloaded a special add-on for Sylestia that can show you the hiddens as visible. This is what the little Ferrikki looks like with his normal traits vs. how he would look if the hiddens were visible:
vs.
See how different he looks? That's why the colours most certainly matter and make an impact to the pet.
