Maybe I'm mistaken, but I'm 99% sure that when I joined, during fests you could give the 'pet had x visible traits' items to other players. Where like, if somebody's pet was a 1-carried, you could make it a 1-vis, 2-vis, or 3-vis. 2-vis couldn't be given 1-vis ones, 3-vis 2 or 1, etc. Basically you could just upgrade the amount of traits.

Am I misremembering or did this use to be a thing? And if it was, was there any reason given for why it's not a feature anymore?

Well, I know for sure this has never been a thing on this site any time I have been here and I joined in Oct of 2014. I have also never heard of this, so I suspect you are confusing games.

I believe this is in reference to items like fertilizer and blood and the like, for the Grown/Made Exclusive pets.

The answer is Yes, it was a thing, but many players weren't happy when other people put these on their growing pet, for their own reasons, so Krin disabled the feature.

Oh, okay, they didn't specify it was the pets people were growing and I didnt make the connection.

I suppose that makes sense. Plus, I'm glad I wasn't misremembering, because I was certain that I'd done little sprees of giving 1-carried pets the 1-vis items!
