Species/Physical Description (if there's a specific species name, you can include that, but you can also be like "human with cat ears" or something)
Clothing Description
Accessories/Items/Tools of Interest
Day Job (It can be really creative considering the setting. Yep, ghost hunter is probably available)
[leave blank for now]
Personality (probably include your general role in the group, like "the sane one" or something lol)

Dislikes
Abilities/Skills (I'm assuming it's probably normal to have like minor "abilities" like animal speech, seeing ghosts, or being able to tell if something is magical or not. This also includes those that come with the species, such as improved hearing. But nothing super flashy or overpowered, like being able to shoot fire out of your eyes lol)

I'd prefer going with fantasy/adventure, but not full-on fantasy where there's no tech at all :)
I've been very interested in urban fantasy recently so that would be cool
I actually have one or two partially planned out ideas (I've had for awhile and been wanting to try out) we can start out with if you'd like to hear it, they might pretty specific in certain parts, but there are aspects that can be mixed around and changed if you guys have any other things to add or want to alter certain bits.
(I think that might be easier than just throwing around random ideas we come up with, but we can also do that, I just think it's simpler to have a possible starting base and just stick things on it xD)

Pretty half-baked (kind of on purpose), but also not. Yay for my overactive distracted brain.
- I'd prefer it to be more sentimental aesthetic-y rather than full-on modern/futuristic techy stuff as the non-magical side if that makes any sense. Like instead of entirely skyscrapers and lights and stuff, uhhh, more fountains and stores and possibly some slight grass???
- Maybe the main characters are already pre-established really good friends, for some reason I really like the idea of them being pretty unique and independent personality and skill-wise but at the same time all... really good friends beyond anything xD Like, childhood friends, pretty much siblings at this point.
- I'm not sure exactly what the magic bits are, but preferably nothing too flashy? Like enough to be an everyday thing, but the plot doesn't solely revolve around it, the fantastical stuff is more like added depth. As in it's more like "oh talking plants (idk lol) exist and some things are cursed, duh", magic isn't some sort of random unobtainable corrupting whatever thing that their lives revolve around, but it certainly makes it more interesting.
- Soo the main part is that I've been toying with the idea of the main characters being able to do things that other people generally can't or don't do (which is a more major part of the plot/daily lives). Like something that sets them apart from other characters and also brings them together as a group, as other people aren't part of it. Not necessarily something that other people aren't entirely unaware of, but rather something that "normal" people" either find unrealistic or incredibly specialized or very niche, like the sort of thing kids thing is cool but later realize is incredibly difficult to actually do as a job. Or maybe "normal" people aren't able to do the things they do because they are lacking experience or some ability that the characters have, possibly.
That was a horribly vague description, but I'm thinking of things like
-- Literal ghost hunting, as in people will hire them to go murder malevolent ghosts or some other thing. Possibly they all (or one or two of them) have some minor ability to see ghosts (maybe due to exposure to some stupid thing they did when they were younger), or maybe each of them have some random trait or old background experience that gives them an advantage for doing that sort of thing. Or maybe there's nothing that makes them particular good at it aside from practice, they were just like "hey why don't we do this" and then they did
-- Running some very specialized shop (I'm imagining one where they get very interesting customers and also do fancy alchemy things in the back as well or something idk)? And the customers all assume they outsource their products or something but they actually make them xD Oh wait we can do both, great now I'm imagining that one of the characters actually owns the shop (as their "unique/normal" activity (see below)) and they're all so close that they pretty much co-own the shop and use it also as a hideout for another thing they do together
-- Similar to the ghosty stuff, but exploring or going into dangerous situations, I guess? Like they'll hear rumors about some very suspicious thing that no one's quite figured out (because due to the setting I'd assume there are some weird things that spontaneously happen or react weirdly cuz magic), or weird mysteries/murders or something, and they'll try to figure it out?
-- Uhh for some reason I was vaguely thinking witch-like things (as in more magic-involving than normal) earlier, but I don't remember how it went idk
- Tying back to the "unique and independent personality and skill-wise but at the same time all really good friends" bit, now I'm thinking that during the "day"/in public, they all do something else (something also cool but more socially normal at least in the setting), but they've also got that more "hidden" job. Like half of their life is doing some completely unrelated thing that goes with their own personalities, but the other half is the underlying thing that ties them all together. (They probably don't really try to hide the other half of their lives tho but they probably don't brag about it to everyone since it's kind of considered eccentric and it just ends up like that ig)
-- Like for example with the "specialized shop" bit, I'd think that one person is permanently in charge of the shop on a day to day "normal" basis, but then every once in awhile another character will be idk doing their normal thing and find some weird thing someone threw out and pop in randomly like "hey this is cool you might want to look at this bye gotta go back to whatever I was doing" and then they just leave lol.
- For some reason now I'm imagining them having this really cosy hideout that they chill in. I'mma end there before I get carried away. I already have gotten carried away.
- Oh and probably other humanoid species and weird hair colors and stuff are normal idk
Yup I got obsessed with this aesthetic the other day sue me now
Plot is obviously completely open from there
Also if you don't like the idea, we can completely ditch this (and will probably end up with me using this in an RPG or something lol, I won't be offended), or change parts of it.

you have no idea how much i love the suburban magic aesthetic! would minor witchcraft work for you? for example, like being able to ordr your coffee with a shot of charisma at your local starbucks before a big meeting, and having living tattoos of your keys and stuff you don't want to lose so you always have them on you and you just kind of pull them off your skin when you need them.
plus i love the specialized shop idea for them. maybe they cater to those slightly more magically intuned (read; better at magic) than others and sell more powerful objects.

Aa yesss!! I really like your ideas aaah and I love the thought of the magic system being more of a freeform minor witchcraft-like thing :D
Another idea I had randomly is like certain objects/items are literally unlucky? Like for example if you pick up a tails-up penny (or whatever the equivalent is), you might end up with a day full of minor inconveniences, at least until you get rid of it or it wears off.
Maybe their shop has, like, really rare base materials or super volatile/specific hard to make things, or perhaps an even more specific theme

definately! maybe the dangerous situations they get in are collecting these objects? on the subject of the unlucky/lucky things; lucky rabbits feet. they would probably be hard to get, as getting a lot of luck is pretty powerful. maybe they're one time use and they have to be gotten under specific circumstances?

Ooh yeah, maybe the dangerous circumstances thing is what makes it so special in the first place? Like normally acquiration of those things would be left to certain specialists who are experts in those fields, but they're just like lol nah
But then there needs to be a really, really valid reason for why such random people are qualified for ending up in/being so good at doing that, though.
And it's also kind of a random thing to have as their "other job", like tbh looking for such things seems like more of something one person would be really into/good at rather than having all 4-5 (idk) that level of invested in it but that could be just me
Like I think it would make sense for one person to specialize in the handling of such items, but otherwise a lot of those items are byproducts of some other kind of other escapade.I
Oh wait I may have read your post wrong, sorry, are you suggesting that they are getting into dangerous situations and happen to end up collecting those objects, or are you suggesting that they are getting into dangerous situations specifically to collect the objects?
Also now I'm thinking ghost hunting/exorcism seems like more of a "day" job of one or two of the characters since it's also a very specific field of interest/specialty

no you were right with the first assumption, i meant they go out for the supplies to sell at the shop, it would be interesting to see the group attempt (and probably come very close to failing at) getting a bunch of powerfull supplies and trying to fight their opponents.
