Kavaratti guides Alexis to the kitchen, where a large pot simmers in a fire pit filled with smoldering embers. He shifts the lid aside with a rag, revealing a thick, white soup, with seaweed and local grains bubbling within, and scoops them both a bowl.

She stared, curious. *what is this? It looks good?*

"Seafood porridge," Kavaratti says, pointing towards a shelf. "There's spoons on the second row from the top. Could you get us both one?"

During that time, he takes the opportunity to ladle them both portions from the soup, handling Alexis her bowl before filling his.

She smiled and nodded, walking over to the shelf and reaching up to grab the spoons. She passed him a spoon and sat down, staring at the food curiously.

Kavaratti takes the offered spoon and joins Alexis on a nearby chair, beginning to take a sip of his breakfast. After a first taste to check its temperature, he takes larger bites.

She watched him before beginning to do the same.

It doesn't take much longer for them to finish their meal. When they're both finished, Kavaratti reaches for Alexis's utensils and bowl and rinses them before setting them to the side to dry.

"Ready to go?" he asks.

She smiled and nodded.

They set out from the house with the light of morning breaking over the village, filling the air with a bright, hopeful splendor of a new day.

Kavaratti strolls through the town, where families lounge for a few extra moments of relaxation and prepare for the upcoming work. Eventually, he comes to a home, where an older woman waits outside, meditatively running through a set of simple stretches.

Noticing the two, she finishes the last set before coming to a stop. "It's wonderful to see the two of you! I hope you'll pardon the delay, you arrived a bit earlier than I was expecting." Her expression curls in a gentle smile. "Let's bring this to the back, so you can responsibly show me those inventions that Kavaratti was mentioning."

Alexis smiled shyly, quiet.
